Lara's Story

I'm a forty something mom of three, and am someone who has been shaped by living in three very different places; Zimbabwe, the UK, and Canada. Experiencing lots of change and shifts throughout my life has taught me the value of self compassion and letting go of perfectionism, which I still need to remind myself of everyday.

Underneath it all is a piece of philosophy I grew up around in Zimbabwe: Ubuntu. "I am because we are." Applied to food & lifestyle, it's simple: a nourished person nourishes the people around them.

My journey into health and nutrition started in my mid-20s, not long after I'd moved from Zimbabwe to England. I was the heaviest I'd ever been, and most days I felt exhausted, foggy, and anxious — running on sugar, refined carbs, and coffee just to get through. I was sick more often than not, and it never occurred to me how much of that was tied to what I was eating. I just thought that was life.

When I decided to invest in a program to work 1:1 with a nutritionist and personal trainer, that's when everything changed for me. I remember being almost shocked at how a handful of simple shifts in my diet and daily habits could turn my energy, mood, and health around so completely. That was the moment I really understood what food and lifestyle could do, and I knew I wanted to help other people find that same shift for themselves.

Health is a Journey

A few years later, I enrolled in the Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Nutritional Therapy degree program at the University of Westminster in London, England, where I discovered functional medicine, an approach that looks at the root causes of symptoms rather than just managing them.

Now, more than 10 years since graduating, I’ve had the privilege of working with clients in the UK, Southern Africa, and Canada.

In February 2025, I enrolled in a 14 month in-depth practitioner training and mentorship program to deepen my knowledge and refine the way I support clients. This ongoing learning has enhanced my ability to approach each case with more precision, compassion, and curiosity.

What my designations mean:

BSc (Hons) NT - Bachelor of Science honors degree in Nutritional Therapy

RHN - Registered Holistic Nutritionist

FHP-C - Certified Functional Health Practitioner

As a mom of three, I understand how challenging it can be to prioritize your health while caring for everyone else. I believe there’s no “perfect” formula for wellness, your journey is uniquely yours.

My approach to nutrition is built on something I learned long before I became a practitioner: Ubuntu, the philosophy I grew up with in Zimbabwe. The belief that none of us exist in isolation, that we're shaped by the people and systems around us. I see the body the same way. Your gut, your hormones, your sleep, your stress. None of them work alone. When something feels off, I'm not interested in silencing the symptom; I want to understand which system is asking for help, and why.

That's the work we do together; root-cause, functional-testing-led (where appropriate), no judgement for wherever you're starting from. You bring the lived experience of your body, I bring the clinical lens, and real change happens in that collaboration rather than a one-size-fits-all plan.

My Philosophy and Approach

My mission is to help you understand your body, uncover the why behind your symptoms, and equip you with the knowledge and tools to take back control of your health one small, sustainable step at a time.
